Anonymous Hackers Take Down SilverDoctors

Those unable to access SilverDoctors this afternoon can thank the hacking group Anonymous, who claimed responsibility today for taking down the hosting site GoDaddy, along with the millions of web sites hosted by GoDaddy.

If you ask us, it looks like a false flag attack by the Obama administration to drum up support for it’s Cyber Security Executive Order in the works.

On Twitter, user @AnonymousOwn3r claimed responsibility for the attack, stating: “the attack is not coming from Anonymous coletive [sic] , the attack it’s coming only from me” and that the the action is being carried out “to test how the cyber security is safe and for more reasons that i can not talk now.”

Millions of GoDaddy sites taken offline by hackers

GoDaddy.com, the largest domain name registrar on the Web, has been taken offline, and a self-proclaimed member of the Anonymous hacktivism collective is taking responsibility.

The administrators of GoDaddy confirmed on Monday that they were suffering from technical issues, which the website TechCrunch reports to be impacting a multitude of websites and their affiliated email accounts that are hosted through the service. Although the company has not discussed the specifics yet, a self-described member of Anonymous says that he or she is responsible, a claim that has not been verified yet.

On Twitter, user @AnonymousOwn3r writes, “the attack is not coming from Anonymous coletive [sic] , the attack it’s coming only from me” and that the the action is being carried out “to test how the cyber security is safe and for more reasons that i can not talk now.”

GoDaddy has tweeted, “We’re aware of the trouble people are having with our site. We’re working on it.”

  1. being in IT/network engineer i noticed some odd issues this morning such as various websites being unavailable from certain locations, and our company VOIP phone system going down around 8:00AM. As far as who’s ultimately responsible, I don’t know why ‘Anonymous’ would do that, since it’s likely they are affecting their own stuff/supporters. Sometimes I wonder who Anonymous really is or if they have connections to a more nefarious agenda, such as implementing some kind of internet lockdown in order to ‘protect us’. I guess we wait and see what ‘legislation’ is waiting to protect us from ‘Anonymous’.

  2. The cartel is getting desperate as they can’t control silvers next run.  The next easiest thing to do is taken down the pro-silver/gold web sites.  They will stop at nothing to maintain fiat…..Its sickening!!!   KEEP STACKING and inform others to do so now!!!!

  3. I regularly lurk here for news on metals but i had to sign up for this. I dont mind the sensationalism on your reporting of silver cuz well im kinda okay with it since im into metals. I cringed today when silver went up 25c and you reported that it “blasted through” $34, all im saying is you lose some credibility when you are sensational. But this just takes the cake. Shame on you Silverdoctors for using GoDaddy. They openly support the censorship of the internet and you’re still using them. You would actually save money going to NameCheap or look up anywhere else. Anywhere is a BETTER host than this horribly devoid of any sense of morality that is Godaddy. Even Wikipedia transferred out of godaddy during their SOPA fiasco last december. Google godaddy supports SOPA and find out.

  4. @JohnHenry- silver had blasted through $34 late last night when that post was made.  It had gone straight through $34 on a vertical upmove on Monday’s Asian open.

As to your ‘this takes the cake’ and ‘shame on you’ for using GoDaddy, we had already paid ahead for several years for the hosting of SD when the SOPA story and GoDaddy’s support broke several months ago.   Trust us, we won’t be re-upping with GoDaddy when our contract expires, we hope to host our own servers as the site grows.

The Doc and BullRun aren’t tech guru’s by trade, so the hosting was originally set up based on recommendations by the techies.

    • Thank you Doc, im glad that you’re aware of the dubious nature of godaddy. :) . Sorry if i was overly rude on the comment.
As for the “blasted through” headline, i know, it’s just that when i read that or “slammed down” i expect to see a bigger move like a 2% move up or down, or moves close to the dollar range.
But hey, at least i went from lurking for over a year to signing up right :) .

I look forward to your great resources on metals as always. Thanks Doc

    • Wherever you go Doc, I’ll be there with you. Your efforts have been a priceless resource for all of us.

    • Way to smack em to the downside Doc!
We need a little sensationalizing now and then.

  5. Leaving aside the Go Daddy SOPA issue, the hacker can barely compose a sentence and is unable to spell Collective
Either he is an off shore person and English is his second language  or a ignorant twerp.  In either case it’s a minor annoyance.  We have bigger issues to deal with in my opinion. It’s regretful that Doc and Tyler have to run interference to manage these interruptions.

  6. No trouble using or posting here with firefox but when using internet explorer it’s pretty messed up right now.

  7. Careful how much credit to give to the cartel. There are individuals who are well capable of causing much grief by using their abilities to cause others discomfort and they are nothing more than APITA.

  8. So that’s why I had hard time accessing the website. I know this might sound weird but a few days ago, I was thinking that someone will hack this website but I told myself “Who the heck would do that?” and it eventually got hacked! The hacking program that the Anonymous used is that it floods the website with something and then the website crashes. You need more than one people doing it at the same time to take a website down. The program that I’m talking about is the program for the collective.

  9. I think Anonymous is being counter productive towards their own cause and might now be a government agency.

  10. Considering this affected thousands of small businesses that use go-daddy I wouldn’t put it past the bankers and large multinationals to be testing cyber warfare. Hard to sell when you are offline and impatient people will go to those who were still up.

  11. I agree, Mary.  This could be nothing but a small scale version of an Internet grab and shutdown program.  Such things DO have to be field tested before they can be counted upon to actually work when needed.  Could this have simply been one of those tests?  Maybe.

  12. Well this is my first time on this site, I have neither gold nor silver but I am a person that is very upset with government and big banks; wait I can’t leave out local government and the high and mighty police who are out of control.
About the only thing I do treasure is freedom and the truth something that seems to have become priceless since it is so hard to find these days.
One does not know who to blame since greed and control have taken over. This only came to mind when reading some of the comments on this subject. Now some are blaming or should I say claiming that the government is anonymous.
I only wish we can return to the days of at least a little truth and a little justice.

  13. Shift your Domain Host to your own server.  Due to Godaddy sharing domain IP across thousands of web pages, you are more susceptible to a DDOS attack.

  14. Having lost access to Silver Doctors underscores the importance of having things in PHYSICAL form!  Many of us rely on the Internet, credit cards, debit cards, etc for daily transactions, but anything electronic and digital is more subject to easy manipulation.  Can society today function properly without such things?  If not, we have built up dependence on things over which we have little control, and that should make people think twice about the path that the present system is taking all of us.

  15. Doc, wondering what Silverdoctors.com IP address is and if you’d be willing to share it.  That way, in the event of a similar attack, users can still access this site by going directly to the IP.
NaturalNews did something similar, for example:

Not a bad e-preparedness plan to have in place.
