Bank of America System Crashes? Online Banking & Debit Cards Down Nationwide

boa-down*Update- several readers have confirmed that BOA ATM’s are still functioning

Bank of America’s online banking system has crashed, with reports coming in that BOA debit cards are also not functioning.
Not surprisingly, the reports indicate BOA systems are having no difficulties receiving cash…naturally it’s all outgoing funds that are the problem.

  1. karma for fukking with firearms businesses. THe sooner they go tits up the better.

  2. How sweet it is!

  3. These pricks are morally and literally bankrupt.   Headed straight to the graveyard with all those worthless underwater-forever assets.     They will not receive a 21-gun salute.
I know everyone needs to have and use paper cash, but please don’t use these evil TBTF monstrosities.   Go local.   And go for white and yellow shiny.

    • sad thing is now the federal reserve is effectively laundering all their fraudulent mortgages. sick.

    • “They will not receive a 21-gun salute.”

They will IF the guns are aimed AT them!

How perfect is this, though?  It’s as if the Internet gods have decided that this giant black hole for client money is collapsing in on itself.  Of course, it is still sucking money in, it is the spewing it back out that is broken.  Is this a perfect description of bankster behavior or not?  Anyway, anyone who is still choosing to do business with these mega banks fully deserves to be f***ed over and over again until they figure out that they really do need to be elsewhere with their money.  Local banks and CUs are the way to go, with CUs preferred.  The only big bank worth a flaming damn, IMHO, is US Bank.  The rest seem to be a pack of thieves and liars… and those are their good traits!

  4. Screw with the Iranians and they screw back.  The Iranian cyber-wonkies are hitting all TBTF banks.  B of A is just the biggest and easiest of the DA banksters.
Wait until this happens to JPM Chase,  They handle all the EBT and SNAP card funding transfers.  That will be something to see.

    • I am holding my breath!  I can’t wait until they go BELLY UP!

    • Yup and they are just testing for the big attack.

    • “The Iranian cyber-wonkies are hitting all TBTF banks.”

Yeah, seeing this makes me wonder if there is any way I can help.  ;-)

“Wait until this happens to JPM Chase,  They handle all the EBT and SNAP card funding transfers.  That will be something to see.”

Indeed it will, AG.  In fact, if that happens, it will remind me of the Watts riots back in ’65.  Tens of thousands of people rioting, looting, and burning the place to the ground, tipping over cars and setting them on fire, the usual s**t.  After the riot was all over, these idiots had the nerve to whine about having no places to cash their welfare checks.  I think that was when the phrase “too stupid to live” was coined.  lol

  5. Only hold your bills on account everything else in hard assets or cash.
Let’s have a good old fashioned bank run.

  6. This is kinda scary. I think it was Gerald Celente that said a bank holiday might happen in a scenario where “there is a glitch that needs to be fixed but we’ll be open again on Monday”  Which Monday they didn’t say. Staying Tuned for a Silver Doctor’s Update!

    • Indeed so… and having this come out on a Friday would be just about perfect.  Seems as if Friday is THE day of choice for most of the BS that “happens” these days.

  7. Warren Buffet , you deserve a margin call. You are overdrawn at your own bank!

  8. LOL>>This happens all the time in thee banking industry. Its happened with my bank here in Canada many times. It doesnt mean anything.

  9. The site is down. Be careful and circumspect. Avoid unnecessary paranoia and jumping to conclusions. There will be plenty of real crashes to come.

  10. Good News! Due to your many years of loyal patronage, your credit card has been marked to make-believe! We imagine it to be zero balance! Gracious thanks for your generous loan to our bank!

    • Lol. Pat.  Millions of Americans who are in debt up to their eyeballs would have a financial orgasm if they received a notice like that! Imagine… instead of owing the bank $20 grand, they owe nothing.  Hey, isn’t that what a “zero balance” means?  :-D

    • Oh no, Ed. You didn’t read the second half. The … deposit side … still works perfectly fine. It was only the … withdrawal side … that’s got the zero balances. Odd how these ‘glitches’ ALWAYS display that same ‘feature’, I’nit?

  11. It is just the web page.  I just used a bofa ATM 5 minutes ago, with a debit card. The iPad app is also working just fine.

  12. ya, same thing happened with my building society online banking in the uk a couple of weeks ago. I was going to send payment to my dealer for some silver shiny and couldnt for a few hours. It came back online and all was good. These things happen. Its when it lasts more than a couple of days that things could be suspicious.

  13. Someone I know just ATMd at BOA about twenty minutes ago. Doesn’t mean the fat lady isn’t singing, just want to supply a data point for ongoing analysis.

  14. No matter what the banks always seem to be able to take money.

    • Yeah, they do.  Funny how that works.  Maybe it is like the local bank we once had that claimed that our checking account balance was ALWAYS off by $1-2 and it was ALWAYS in their favor.  Funny thing is, since moving our money to a local CU 30+ years ago, we haven’t ever had that problem again.  Hmmm… coincidence?

  15. I’m not getting to excited, remember the last time with the ATM’s going down all over the place everyone getting excited and nothing happened, so I’ll wait and see.

    • Like a lot of situations, Charlie, nothing to see here, move along… UNTIL THERE IS!  Maybe this is just a bank hacking test run to get a feel for the place?  Real hack to follow.  Just desserts for egregious behavior?  Maybe.

    • Right on Ed_B The web site is back up, just another little glitch in the radar. I can’t believe people where getting excited over this. I guess hope and anxiousness where playing in the minds. Just Keep Stacking

  16. This is big. What about all the solider and civilians that have accounts at these banks. Whew I feel for them

  17. Yes, quite “funny” how it’s always the outgoing money systems that break down and not the incoming. Obviously Bank of America is a wee bit broke this weekend.

  18. I stay out of, and try to avoid, places such as big banks, churches of Satan, snake pits, and lion dens. People should know better.

    • Yes, they should.  But then… some people need to be smacked upside the head with a 2×4 before important lessons sink in.

  19. Reading some of the post above from BofA possibly broke dick clients. This still is not good and because some clients can’t utilize the sites. However, for those who can they need to take their funds out and keep them in a safe.

  20. I caused that banking outage.  Apologies if it caused you any problems – I just thought that it would be funny to fvck things up for all those procrastinators who wait until the first of the month to pay their bills.

I am sorry and promise that i will not do this again.
    -Mammoth

  21. Apologize?  Mammoth, don’t you dare.  DO IT AGAIN!!!! HAHAHAHA
About 6 months ago I wrote a post about the real banking crisis, a full on shut down. Susan Posel of Occupy Corporatism gave a good overview of the sequence of events if the banking system collapsed on a regional or national basis.  She posited that if a bank holiday occurred it would be on Friday.  As a former banker I watched dozens of banks get shut down and some were multi billion dollar banks. Back 20 years ago a $5-10 billion bank was pretty big.
She then said that the banks would reopen  Monday with a ‘business as usual’ attitude.  From there, 2-3 days later there would be some sort of martial law.
The thinking is that if a cyber attack occurred, it would be best ot hit on Friday. But more insidious would be the bank holiday like the 1930s when the government closed down the system.  It would not be a stretch to say 95% of all transactions are electronic, from ATM to credit and debit cards, EFTs for any transfer payment including 30-40 million retirees and military personnel   SBAN and EBT covers another 50 million.
If those systems were shut down it would be as close to a nuclear EMP or cyber attack as possible.  The Friday shutdown test would let the governement know the system worked.  Monday is business as usual; the people are back to their complacent selves and then wednesday,  Wham.  Total shut down coupled with martial law of some sort because when people can’t get any sort of credit, food, gas of anything else, then the SHTF.

  22. This happens to Dutch banks all the time in some form or shape. We’re being conditioned to not freak out.
But, should we prepare to short BAC? They’ve just made quite a run-up the past few days.

  23. Iran is testing and probing the defects in our internet security. One of these days they are going to unleash a full scale attack and crash the banking system for more than a day.

    • I agree, and that’s exactly why I don’t have any deposits in the banks. I keep small amounts in CU’s and stack like a mad beast when I get paid. I try to educate others to do the same, but most don’t want to listen and the rest think that you came from another planet. I’ve gotten through to a few and that’s, I guess, the best I can hope for. The few that I have gotten through to are much smarter that me, so that keeps me going.

  24. We’ve all heard the old saying of “What goes around, comes around”.  I am thinking along these lines while also thinking about the US cyber attack on Iranian nuclear facilities.  Imagine if Iran returned the favor with a modified STUXNET virus that was specifically altered to attack the US, UK, and EK banking systems.  While shutting down these systems would be nasty, it would be MUCH worse to just scramble their data but leave them up and running.  Imagine the effect of randomizing all of the client names and account numbers.  Shear pandemonium!  Got money?  Maybe but it’s not what you think.  :-O

  25. The banking system pays almost no intrest why use it. Most co. deposit their employees pay electronically by direct deposit. If it is possible get out of that. Or as soon as the cash goes in, pull it out! Even if the deposit is at midnight! Go to the ATM on Thursday night (11:59 at the latest) and withdraw AMAP. At midnight do it again!

  26. The Bank Deposit was a scam at the inception of its birth..Just a bunch of numbers that get deposited and that is it. Nothing more nothing less. You take away this funny money (fiat currency) all your left is with a cashless society. Basically is what we have right now. Who are they fooling.
