Recently the company I own was hired to help a very wealthy family learn to protect itself from threats that caused them to move close to where I live( not for me but the small town and its safety) and away from a big city.  Ill share some of what I told them on day one about telling others to much about you and your family and just what kind of victim you might be.

As I drove up to the home I saw the back of the family’s vehicle, it told me everything I needed to know, it was just that simple, the client had telegraphed to me all I needed to know in bumper stickers on the back of her vehicle and told an evil man man all he might want to know. A reminder (I’m the good guy I’m just telling you what a bad guy see’s when he looks at the following so please don’t call me a perv, I’m trying to help)

She had the typical stick family sticker, but it was 1 woman and 2 smaller females…..no man in the family, no father in the home who might pose a threat or offer up defense. She had their names….So I now knew her girls names, and a sticker of the local High school with the word softball and a jersey number under it. So now I knew 1 of her girls was a softball player at the High School. A quick google later I knew exactly who her daughter was via Facebook and   softball pictures.

Beneath that was an Obama sticker and a coexist sticker, obviously she doesn’t own a gun at home does she…..and she’s probably not taken any self defense classes, she a pacifist who dials 911 and hopes the police get there in time.

So just the stickers on her car told me all I needed to know about her and her level of victimhood. I can guess that I could break into the house at night, find only 3 females in that home one of which I know is attractive based on her Facebook and there won’t be a gun in the home or a male who might pose a greater physical threat. The mother marked herself as a victim just on what her car told me. Did I mention that the vehicle was expensive so I’m guessing that there’s not only an attractive young girl at this home but things worth lots of cash?  The client was shocked at what I could tell her just by looking at her vehicle, I told her don’t tell me anything just give me a half an hour out here in my car on my laptop and ill tell you about your family based on your car.

Watch what you put on the back of your car, its ok to be proud of your child and your family but do I really need to know enough to know all their names, what schools they go to, that you don’t own a gun, and that there probably isn’t defense in your home? Don’t make yourself a victim, don’t tell people more than they need to know.

So the shotgun rack in the back of my vehicle is…

This reminds me of some advice that I heard a few years ago.  If you have children, do not let them haphazardly spread their toys around in front of the house.  That is a magnet for those burglar wanna-be’s driving through your neighborhood looking for a house to rob.  Consider the equation:

    Toys – Kids = Mother = Jewelry!

Better to have your kids keep their toys inside the shed.

Wow, that’s some great intel Deadtime.  I’ve always thought it was a good idea to advertise nothing on care or home, including political and association bumper stickers.  OPSEC is critical if you want to be a hard target and not give the bad guys a reason to look further into your home and car.  It’s also a good idea to have some serious artillery readily available to counter any threat but that advice will fall on deaf ears for those who advertise their weakness and vulnerabilities.

Just a quick note on blasters.  If you ladies can acquire a low cost 20 gauge shotgun with an 18 inch barrel,  7.5 shot is available at Walmart in case lots.  $25 per 100 rounds.  Nice acquisition.  And a few boxes of OOO and 2 shot  out the defensive armament. Good for a home defense weapon as well as a car or truck gun.  It’s easier to conceal than a 12 gauge.

Big 5 has a nice Mossberg 20 guage with a 26 vent ribbed barrel and an 18.5 inch riot gun interchangeable barrel that takes 3 inch shells and a magazine that should hold 7-8 shells.  See if you can get one on sale.

Ehhh I use a Mossberg 500 12 gauge with 18 1/2 inch barrel and 00 buck. Nobody else in the house to worry about hitting, 75 feet to the neighbors so not worried about wall penetration (besides this old house has 1 inch old growth pine planking on the outside… buck isn’t going thru it!

Mossberg is my fav house gun to Mary.  OO is preferred with a few slugs.  Over penetration’s not a worry in my neighborhood. No one within 100 yards. Underpenetration is a concern with 400 lb brown bears.

I like the 20 G as a truck gun. It’s light, ammo is still available and I like the idea of having a smaller shotgun for my wife.  I don’t know if I’ll need backup but the 12 G kicks hard even for me. I like the heaviest loads available

I can deal with a few bruises from recoil if they are from a self defense scenario. When at the range I wear padding, I don’t care what someone says I am not trashing my shoulder!

LOL, I always knew my loathing for bumperstickers would pay off! I do not even have my union window sticker.

They say it attracts police… haha!

I put all my stickers on my lunch box.

Got a sweeet Mossberg 590 tactical 12 gauge coming soon, factory tube extension and pistol grip, with +4 shell storage in 2 spring loaded tubes in the stock! Found a similar (but less optioned) 590 online @ Gander Mountain, for $80 MORE than I am paying! My gun guy is really kewl!

AGXIIK, I have nearly rounded out all my self-defense needs, and doing well on ammo. Thanks to you and OVERTIME! lol
