    Hello,
I am seriously looking at taking the Front Site courses – have any of you taken their courses and if so what did you honestly think?
This will be MAJOR outlay of cash for me (which is exceptionally tight right now) so really want idea of whether worth it (or not)…I appreciate ALL feedback – good, bad & ugly! If you don’t want your opinion/experience on public forum please contact me and we’ll email privately. BIG decision and need help with it.

Newbie 1  I am a Diamond member with Alaskan privileges.  In April 2011 I took their 4 Day defensive handgun class.  It was quite good and I came away with many new skills and refined others.  Later that year I took their 4 rifle course and it was also a good course.  I learned more about handling rifles in 4 days than the prior 40 years.  In 2012 I took their 2 day open hand and 2 day edged weapons courses.  These were fun but I did the final bit of damage to my hip and knee, with a subsequent knee rebuild and hip replacement. This was not due to the course, just the end result of 10 years of extreme weight lifting.

I plan to take their 4 day shotgun course this year if time allows.  Several of my friends go regularly for refresher course but due to a one day drive and the cost of staying in Parumph plus the scarcity of pistol and rifle ammo, I may back off a bit and do skill building in my local northern Nevada area.

If you want to converse on this, ask Doc for my real world email and we can discuss more.  My Diamnd membership cost me about $4,000 a few years ago and that included two handguns and some Frong site gear but nowadays the prices for the course are way lower.

What are you paying for a 4 day course and membership

I bought 16 Diamond menbership packs a couple of years ago and got 4 firearms for that promotional plan. I’ve sold off 12 or 13 of them to friends in the local area.

I get Iggy Piazza’s emails all the time, and the intriguing one is the HOME COURSE for $79!

I have a local YouTube star couple, She works at the LGS I frequent, and He visited once, and we met.

Corey and Erika, and Corey is a total Gentleman! Army vet, I believe, and they offer a solid 2 day,

16 hour course for $300 (50% Military Discount, $150!) and it sounds very complete. I can shoot

handguns at home, and have a range membership for the rifles. Still pretty cold, but I plan on going

a lot when it warms up!

Hmmm – haven’t seen anything on a home course yet – did just join their Patriots newsletters though and they apparently do monthly specials on it. I’d love to take each of their 4 day courses (handgun, shotgun, rifle) and then maybe follow/refer to home study for practice…? Now just have to find the funds and the time (time is a biggy when you’re on farm with various livestock by self) to go to Vegas! lol
I’ve figured out ways to meet my other goals – now I’ll have to get working on this one : )

" that is only good for local line of sight FM communications. You really need shortwave capabilities also. Like the Yaesu FT-817 or FT-857 or FT-897 " Reply To: Ham radio

" Any recommendations on a radio.  This is what I was looking at.  http://www.hamradio.com/detail.cfm?pid=H0-011362.  The other brands I have never heard of.   Just wanted something functional without being too fancy. " Reply To: Ham radio

" Silver Dollar - if I cash out now I cannot buy silver in Ecuador for anywhere near this ridiculously low price. " Store a radio in a steel container, make sure to bubble wrap it for insulation. Stick it in the attic, garage, wherever as a spare in case of confiscation. I have an old Drake tube rig I am restoring that will be mostly EMP proof " Reply To: Ham radio
