I don’t know about my fellow silver bugs and/or if the Docs will deem this topic to be spam as well, but I am very interested in finding an affordable device that can accurately test for real silver without any damage to the silver and/or silver product. I’ve founded an interesting YouTube video in regards to an “ultrasonic thickness gauge”. Kindly let me know your thoughts:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_T8fdshyEek&feature=youtube_gdata_player
I have one of those ultrasonic testers, and I did buy a fake Engelhard Prospector coin I might have time to test in the next few days
427 Great stuff. I am looking forward to hear about your test results. Are those testers expensive?
About 5-7 oz US. If this is all you want it for I would buy the silver instead. I don’t know how bad fakes are were your at.
I normally order my silver from overseas and are not aware of any fakes, but I would love to make 100% sure at a price that won’t break the piggy bank.
No such thing, unless your buying new with a COA. But a sonic tester would see the deferent metal.
True, I will have to weigh my options.
I got that exact gauge and it worked. It’s trickier than it seems though – a super smart math guy helped me using his huge book of formulas.
Somebody HAS to come up with a simple and reliable detector. Seriously, folks.
I want to offer a discount and accept silver and gold at my marinas. You know the drill: Many service stations and other businesses have a posted price, and accept credit and debit cards. Many also advertise a small discount for payment in cash. I want to do that, but offer an even better discount to those who pay in gold or silver.
Problem is, I need to protect myself from being ripped off. I need a simple and reliable detector that can be used right there next to the cash registers. I sure hope someone comes up with one soon.
