Pope Resigns, Lightening Strikes the Vatican!

imagesThe night after Pope Benedict became the first Pope to resign in over 600 years, lightening has struck the Vatican.

No word on whether former Pope Benedict was able to reach 88 MPH in his Delorian at time of strike.

We will attempt to restrain our commentary as much as possible, but if lightening strikes 60 Wall Street next, we’ll take it as a sign.

  1. God help the world, we are going to need it.

  2. Any thoughts on the supposed prophecy by St. Malachy predicting the lineage of popes, ending with the next pope to be named?

  3. He’s still the Pope till the end off the month, maybe he will change his mind after that strike. LMAO
Under normal circumstances, the cardinals would descend on Rome after the death of the reigning pope. In this case, said the Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, the pope will carry out his duties until Feb. 28 at 8 p.m., with a successor probably elected by Easter, which this year falls on March 31. Now you know the Whole story but it’s only the Beginning or is it the End. Lol

  4. The really interesting part of all this to me is the Pope keeping this a complete secret, even from his “inner circle” until making a very public announcement.  History records that a number of pope’s have died under suspicious circumstances.  Perhaps he did not wish to join that list?   Hard to say as the scheming and plotting among the residents of the Vatican and other high church officials is likely to be truly world class.

Also interesting is the fact that this is the first pope to resign in 600 years.  Needless to say, this is not a common occurrence.  Now the scramble will be on to elect another very old man to replace this one.  One would think that they would elect one with more mileage left in him but apparently the fun of selecting and electing one is too great not to do it as often as possible.

  5. Interesting and if prophesy comes true we may be living in interesting times per the Chinese curse

  6. Maybe Pope Benedict recognized something in himself that convinced him that a new pope would be the best change for the Catholic Church.  The church is under great pressure from many directions. He may have seen these challenges would require physical vigor and fortitude that were no longer possible for him  There was a comment made when he was elected by the College of Cardinals and it was specifically about his age. At 85 he is elderly and even if he’s weak in body and strong in mind, the strains of the duties set for the pope may be more than he is capable of.  I expect that he will be active behind the scenes.  Few popes would have a counselor of the caliber helping them in their duties.

  7. Mass arrests and resignations… Queen, Beatrix, the 2nd to the last Pope, all that needs to happen now is for QE and Prince Charles to abdicate in favor of Prince William the Anti-Christ… The stage is set…
