President Obama gave a doozy of a campaign fundraising speech in Roanoke, Virginia Friday night.
To a resounding round of applause, Obama literally stated that successful Americans and business owners didn’t become successful as a result of their own hard work and dedication, their success was the result of others as well as opportunities made available by the government.
‘Look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there.
If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen.‘
In our case, President Obama is 100% correct.
If it wasn’t for people like President Obama, Ben Bernanke, Henry Paulson, Timothy Geithner, the SEC, & the CFTC, SilverDoctors.com likely would never have existed.
In Obama’s words: We didn’t build SilverDoctors, ‘Somebody else made that happen’.
For those ready to fight back against the new USSA (United Socialist States of America), SD’s SDIRA launches MONDAY 7/16/12!
From Obama’s Campaign Speech, courtesy WhiteHouse.gov:
There are a lot of wealthy, successful Americans who agree with me — because they want to give something back. They know they didn’t — look, if you’ve been successful, you didn’t get there on your own. You didn’t get there on your own. I’m always struck by people who think, well, it must be because I was just so smart. There are a lot of smart people out there. It must be because I worked harder than everybody else. Let me tell you something — there are a whole bunch of hardworking people out there. (Applause.)
If you were successful, somebody along the line gave you some help. There was a great teacher somewhere in your life. Somebody helped to create this unbelievable American system that we have that allowed you to thrive. Somebody invested in roads and bridges. If you’ve got a business — you didn’t build that. Somebody else made that happen. The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
The point is, is that when we succeed, we succeed because of our individual initiative, but also because we do things together. There are some things, just like fighting fires, we don’t do on our own. I mean, imagine if everybody had their own fire service. That would be a hard way to organize fighting fires.
So we say to ourselves, ever since the founding of this country, you know what, there are some things we do better together. That’s how we funded the GI Bill. That’s how we created the middle class. That’s how we built the Golden Gate Bridge or the Hoover Dam. That’s how we invented the Internet. That’s how we sent a man to the moon. We rise or fall together as one nation and as one people, and that’s the reason I’m running for President — because I still believe in that idea. You’re not on your own, we’re in this together. (Applause.)

Washington: US President Barack Obama’s estimated assets for the last year are valued at USD eight million, his latest annual financial disclosure forms show and he has up to USD 1 million in the JP Morgan Chase, the bank which is under FBI investigation.
Psycopaths and lunatics are in office. Thats the dumbest thing Iv ever heard anyone say. “No one is great by their own merits!! NO ONE!!!!” But tis the life of a puppet, brought to you in part by GOLDMAN SACKS!!!
Wow.
M a r x i s m.
I read this POS earlier today. Not sure how many times I can stuff my limited supply of brains back into my head. 20 years ago I quit my day job making some serious dough to start my business. 16 hours a day for 1 year; 12 hours a day for the next 17. In the last 2 years I’ve spent 5-6 hr a day trying to figure out how to protect my family from this straphanging, kleptcratic grifter from the South Side of Chicago while running my business too boot. Aint easy as anyone who does this regularly can attest to.
While I was busting my a** building my business and working with thousands of others to do the same, this Choom Room ‘Down Low’ musloid peckerwood was rearranging the economic complexion of Chicago while doing the white swallow with his ballerina boyfriend Rahm Emanuel. No wonder Michele don’t trust him. This jeckoff could not run a lemonaid stand if Lee Iacocca was his GM.
As for the government inventing businesses. The government is good at one thing. Taking a good idea and screwing it into the ground every time. If the gummint was in charge of the Internet we would still be using tin can telephones and smoke signals. The gummint is good at two things. Debasing the currency and waging war. Both are financed by the central banks. nuff sed BHO is one sick f***
Maybe true for those Solyndra guys…
Look O is the Prez.
Firmly believe that the USA gets what it thinks it needs…..and boy did we. We voted this Admin in. lol
And we if vote this skeet in again and we will get exactly what we voted for—just watch.
Seriouly, we’d be further a head voting in a jr high cheerleader….. cuz at least she might be a nice piece of ass……ie: worth something.
Lighten up 4, must say Michelle is smokin’ hot!
…and he’s wrong about the internet. It wasn’t made for business to make money from
BO has got to go!
How far we have sunk as a nation to have this dip be in the position to send us into oblivion.
AGXIIK. That was one of the funniest comments I have ever read on SD!

Talk about the pot calling the kettle black. Obama is the original ‘Manchurian Candidate’. It certainly was not his resume of experience.
The Post turtle is FOS & doesnt have a friggen clue
This comming from a quota who has NEVER held a REAL job in his made up so called life
Nice Post Da Yooper. Well coded. Even the Brown Shirt Chaz Napolitano won’t figure that one out
Absolutely right, any big time business gets help from the Roman rulers. Huge tax breaks, welfare, errr, subsides. Nepotism. Eventually they (Gov-mint) will ask tribute from the company or sacrifice to the alter of nationalism.
Not to sound contradictory, provocative or to play devil’s advocate,
but after a little bit of thought I agree with the President’s comments.
Now, understanding the socialist-Marxist background he is coming from and his obvious attempt at populist appeal with these comments, which defines the context, the actual substance of what he said is true.
Does it mean business owners and entrepreneurs aren’t responsible for the success of their company? No.
But he does have a point. As hard as the owners of my business work, and as much as they tighten and squeeze the belt on employees to max profits (I understand populist outreaches and union appeals, even if I’m against unions), without the hard-working employees and managers and supervisors that run the machine, as well as the intricate system set up on many levels to help them succeed, they’d be nothing on their own.
For modern businesses to succeed on a large scale, the owners have to be sharp and innovative and good strategists and work hard, yes, but they are dependent on the labour and genius of many others.
Thus, Silver Doctors is well-run and innovative people, but without the members and the hard research of others and the insights provided by friends of friends of friends of friends of……. there’s be no SD.
So, coming from this marxist, and understanding his populist-social-engineering intents, I disagree with him, but he brings a truthful argument which is quite true in its proper context, and I’d even venture to say that one of America’s weak links is its overreliance on individualism.
Case in point: the early New Testament church, while being persecuted by totalitarian regimes that resisted the spiritual narrowmindedness of Christians, had everything in common, and men did not regard their possessions as their own but shared them with those in need. Jesus even said that if a man asks you for your coat, offer him even more. Point being, over-reliance on individualism and me-focused mindsets opens the door of discontent to the hard-working down-and-outs of this world and opens the door for totalitarian extremists like Obama (and Lenin and Stalin and Mao in previous decades) to stir up a populist frenzy.
So while I’m no apologist of Obama, and while I believe in properly-regulated free markets (with decent tarrifs on imports to promote local manufacturing etc.), I realize that there is much truth in the notion that there is no such thing as purely self-made men (while recognizing that some men start up great companies without much help in the strategy, planning and developping stage), and that uber-individualism creates a breeding ground for uber-populism backlashes.
Being in a swing state we are already overwhelmed with presidential advertisements. The only problem is neither has ever been in the military and about the only private industry experience seems to be closing down plants and shipping jobs overseas.
It seems the choices this year are Moe, Larry or Curly.
In Obama’s words: We didn’t build SilverDoctors, ‘Somebody else made that happen’. (more…)
and let’s not forget:
The Internet didn’t get invented on its own. Government research created the Internet so that all the companies could make money off the Internet.
At least he isn’t personally claiming to have invented the internet like Al Gore did…
But it should be obvious that SilverDoctors is only successful because of the internet!
Case in point:
Eric Sprott has worked hard for many eyars, having successes and failures, and has established a very successful and reputable company, becoming a billionaire himself.
Now, as a smart businessman, I think he recognizes that others have helped him be successful. This kind of humility is a good thing.
Think about it, he has surrounded himself with some of the top guys in the industry (John Embry, who worked for years in the Canadian banking sector), Rick Rule, successful American businessman, and other top notch Canadian guys. Sprott Asst. Mgnt. and Sprott Money hire smart, high-achievers who did well in university and who have shown capacity for excelling. These people help Sprott be a success, and He helps them develop their skills and learn much from him.
Not only this, but Sprott is a generous donor to many Canadian charities in Toronto and accross the world. Some of these charities are Christian in nature. Now, apart from the fact that big companies try to look good by donating to charities, would he be investing in his community and in the lives of men, women and children who need help as down-and-outers and who need to hear the Gospel of Christ from Christian missionaries if he believed that men were purely self-made? Of course not. He obviously believes that people need help, and that by lending them help they can make a better life for themselves and get out of the gutter. By investing in his community, he is hoping to help others succeed in life and discover true productive joy in Christ Jesus.

Once again it’s the ole “mix half truths with lies and reshape out thinking” gag.
“their success was the result of others” is half true. A good successful business can’t be built by one person alone, it takes many good intelligent people to make that happen. BUT it takes a truly visionary LEADER to pull it all together and put the right people in the right places.
“as well as opportunities made available by the government.” That is patently FALSE. Government makes NO opportunities for building a successful PRIVATE enterprise business without destroying something first. Only those politically connected and savvy can actually get the government to alter the playing field to their favor. The government can only make opportunities for some by destroying opportunities for many others.
I’m afraid that I must disagree, Not Sure. If it wasn’t for Obama and the government, there would have been no opportunities for Jon Corzine to loot and pillage MF Global clients, or Solyndra to suck up half a billion of our tax dollars as it lay on its death bed, or for Fast and Furious to benefit the Mexican gangs and drug cartels, plus much other chicanery. Those who profited from these wonderful opportunities profited immensely. Now, aren’t they great opportunities and weren’t they completely created by government? <sarcasm mode off>
No, sorry Obama, wrong. Those people that worked for you made money off of the business to support their life style already. The business owner ended up with the business that he created out of his/her own RISK – 95% of the time, it’s a failure within the first 5 years. When the business fails, the owner looses all. However, the people that worked for him did not lose anything, they always make money.
This might be my last post regarding this Obama idiocy. Let me make it abundantly clear that NO ONE HELPED ME START OR RUN MY BUSINESS EXCEPT MY WIFE. That’s it. No one government goon helped—not one. All this other self serving pontificating BS from gummint drones makes me psycho and this is not what I want to have to deal with on this site.
What’s more, over the last 37 years in my industry I have worked with and helped over 7,500 businesses start and grow and no one of those entrepreneurs had any help with their 100 hour work weeks. It was balls to wall with no safety net, no one to bail them out and a much better than average chance that they would fail and lose everything. I’ve seen plenty of that in my time too. Don’t even ask me how much I lost in my lamentable fishing business.
And another thing. Unless and until a person has become a small business owner, the economic engine of this country, they are totally and completely unable to talk about this subject. You have to walk the talk in business before you can talk about this subject. It makes no more sense to talk about this subject without being in business than talking about how to raise children when you have never had a child. Those experiences are very much alike.
I’ve been explaining for a long time, that Collectivism was invented as a flim-flam to re-institute Feudal Monarchy across the world. As a social and legal structure, they bear every single aspect in common. The principal element they share is that all physical things are under Absolute Title in the Monarchy-State, rented out according to demonstrations of fealty.
Alex Jones repents and comes out in support of Barry, very funny:
