  1. The only thing that I could foresee that could greatly affect the silver price would be something developed that could replace silver in the industrial market. Still silver’s monetary value would remain.

    • Or they find an asteroid that is made of silver and gold. Or a huge gold/silver laden asteroid hits the earth. They say most of it that we find in the crust came from space.

    • yes Crissy, did you see that the Google founders are funding a PM Asteroid farming program?
It is projected that the first ones coming to Earth around the 2030′s  Neat Stuff!

  2. To those thinking you’ll be able to pay off debt with cheaper money (monthly or weekly pay raises to keep up with inflation) Not so.  Ask your boss today, “If inflation takes off, will we get pay raises to compensate?”

One of my old bosses a few years ago just laughed…

    This isn’t `79-80.

  3. That’s why I choose silver over gold as a store of wealth. Although, silver takes more space than gold which is harder to hide silver. I don’t know how new silvers are coming when silver is a precious metal and the demand is rising.

  4. NO ONE ITEM will ever replace Silver. Ever. Guaranteed.
I do not even EVER foresee a complete replacement set of materials taking over the #1 spot in all areas,
let alone 1 new material doing everything better than SILVER. That being said, I do suppose that some
new replacements can be worked out that will eventually, in some areas. Especially when Silver prices
skyrocket for some of the more weighty uses that requires lots of silver per use.

I could see perhaps an alloy of aluminum that might replace Silver (someday) plus it is lighter.
But aluminum is not a biological sterilization agent either. Or a good conductor…
Aluminum also oxidizes much more readily than Silver. Even a better reflective material may be an Aluminum-Silver Alloy!
I see “silver substitutes” mainly as silver compounds in the near future, which will relieve some of the immediate need,
but not entirely. Just my opinion, but past patterns are a good indication of future performance.

It will be mighty hard to impossible to ever replace Silver.

    That’s my 2 oz Worth!
