With allocated/rationed silver eagle sales beginning again on Monday 1/28, the US Mint reported another 300,000 silver eagles sold Tuesday, nearly 1.5 million since production was restarted Monday, and increased January’s all-time monthly sales record to an astonishing 7.42 million silver eagles, 53 times the volume of gold purchased from the US Mint in January!

In only 11 business days of sales, the US Mint has already sold over 1 million ounces more than its previous monthly record of 6.4 million set in January of 2011, and with 2 days to go, looks likely to easily surpass 8 million ounces for January.

Astonishingly, although the US Mint has shut down Silver Eagle production for 18 of the first 29 days of January (while gold eagle production continued), the mint has somehow managed to still sell physical silver to gold at a 53 to 1 ratio- meaning that Eric Sprott’s famous $1 to $1 ratio of silver to gold purchases has continued!

In the Wonderful World of Wall Street supply shortages mean lower prices and infinite supply such as for US debt leads to higher prices. Luckily Inspector Chilton of the Yard is on the job
When I was on the phone yesterday with the U.S. Mint, I asked about ASEs and was told they are available “for now”. I got the America the Beautiful proof quarters I was after but they are selling ASEs again.
Great pic! lol I can just imagine that bird leaning over and putting the bite on Bart’s nose. CHOMP!
Why does The Docs’ live Kitco charts show the waterfalls and breakouts in real time but when I go to Kitcos’ live silver chart it doesn’t show it? it is now 9 AM and it is only now showing up on their web site.
RRG – Not sure but going by your chart time stamp looks like a bit premature. I use this one these days that was recommended on another SD thread recently…warning… watching tick by tick moves on the 1 minutes chart is so addictive but pointless and frustrating at the same time. Even catch the wife transfixed on occasions too and she’s never been interested in my Silver stacking previously LOL.

@Zilver Zeta: Thx, that’s the same one I use. I have also posted it here @ SD. I was just wondering how The Doc was getting it on Kitco and I couldn’t get the same chart at the same time!
@RocketsRedGlare OK gotcha. It was probably one of your previous posts that steered me towards the pmbull link then. Cheers, now I’m a sad individual with no life and screen target fixation
ZZ: lol
Because kitco has a history of editing the charts
“Because kitco has a history of editing the charts”
EEK! It’s CHART manipulation! ;-)
I remember reading somewhere that kitco ‘massages’ their charts somehow, to even out (ahem, hide) the spikes, manipulation, etc…
But silver investment demand isn’t there to support prices going to new levels… and I have some nice land in NW MN to sell you that is 70 degrees mid winter.
